I launched this blog to share my passion for online social networking and my experiences at social networking sites.I never intended to assemble a catalog. There are already too many good ones out there.
Mashable List of Social Networking Sites
Consider the Mashable list of 350+ social networking sites arranged by category with a brief description of each site. It’s very well done.
Or consider the Go2Web20 complete Web 2.0 social media directory. What an undertaking!
I will from time to time point you to such lists and meta-sites to stimulate your interest and facilitate your research.
List of Social Networking Sites for Business Networking
For business networking sites, I recommend Most Popular Social Networking and Business Networking Sites. This is a short list of popular business networking venues.
You can also find helpful information and resources on the sidebar of this blog.
I will continue to focus on writing thought-provoking articles and sharing my ideas about social media marketing, social networking sites and personal development.

I enjoy reading your blog. I have a marketing blog also. You have given me great ideas. Thanks for the positive write !!!
As I’m new to all of this, I can use all the help I can get. Thanks for providing some!
This is a great social networking site for artists.
I write cookbooks. My website houses the recipes for my next book. I also have a blog that houses the tips for my next book.
Stir, Laugh, Repeat
I’m looking for help in finding buyers for my book. It was written for the young adults who want to learn to cook. I use simple recipes, common ingredients found in most kitchens and give suggestions for ingredient changes. Can you recommend marketing tips for this type of book?
Thanks
Martha
Martha,
There’s only so much help I can give you in a running commentary on a blog. However, why don’t you tell me more.
Is this you first book? Are you self publishing? Do you have any marketing experience?
Whatever you can tell me will help.
Larry
Very very good list of social networking sites. Probably the best so far I have seen on the Internet.
Thank you so much.
Thanks a lot for this list of social networking sites. I now know a lot of new social networking sites that I never knew before.
I came accross your blog and wanted to say that social networking has been a very good way to come in contact with people for ones business.
There is even an optin ap out now for Facebook that I heard about recently. Things are really expanding in ways to use social networks.
Hi Larry - great site. I was wondering if you can get addicted to social networking! I do a bit of Twittering but that is about all. Do you think you should stick to one or two social networks or try and make a larger web presence? Thanks.
In general, Mick, I recommend building a large web presence.
In response to Mick, I think that these days sticking to the main social networks and really gaining a foothold would be preferable and probably more attainable.
I find myself only using Twitter and Facebook these days as the audience is quite frankly massive. If I spent time on other networks I feel it would just dilute my efforts.
This is an awesome list you have compiled. Perfect for outsourcing to an SEO assistant over seas.
Thanks,
Cory
Hi Larry…
I have never been quite convinced about marketing in the social arena.
Some marketers are almost over the top, whilst others seem to be far more balanced.
However my experience has been in life that many product purchases are made as a result of favorable comments made by friends at social events
What are some thoughts and experiences on this, as I don’t want to miss out on a good marketing opportunity. At the same time I don’t want to be lurking and hovering around social networking sites trying to make sales.
Cheers
Hi Geoff,
It all comes down to building an offline and online presence.
In order to avoid spinning your wheels, it’s imperative that you develop a sensible marketing strategy that you implement with a laser focus.
Larry
“It all comes down to building an offline and online presence.”
This is something I see that a lot of brick and mortar business fail to realize. I have a rotating stream of them come through my store front and none that leave have an online presence.
And probably few have offline presences either.
Online social networking sites are a BIG help to my business. It enables me to build relationships with people who has the same interest like me and at the same time, it helps me to generate leads. I like the fact that you have indentified the list of networking sites especially for business.
